Colmore building Aon case study

AON, The Colmore Building - Birmingham

The Colmore Building, formerly known as Colmore Plaza, is a 14-storey office building in the Colmore Business District area of Birmingham City Centre.

The Colmore Building is a Grade A office building spread over 14 storeys. It can accommodate lettings of up to 104,000 sq ft across 23,000 sq ft floor plates and has a BREEAM environmental and sustainability rating of 'Excellent'.

Tamlite, working alongside M&E Consultant AJ Consultancy (Ali Yazdi), TQ Building Services (Tony Quinn) and CEF Dagenham Branch, were specified to supply luminaires to AON on the 12th floor of the building.

Tamlite were able to engineer a solution that fit to the office's particular tile and ceiling void size. Using the Capital range, we provided a sample that was able to seamlessly fit into the ceiling tile, and we were also able to connect remote drivers to alleviate the void issue.  Also, the initial sample did not match the RAL colour of the ceiling tiles and Tamlite were again able to sort out a solution where the Capital eventually matched the RAL colour of the ceiling tile on site.

When Tamlite were introduced to the project, that design stage was at stage 3 where we then offered lighting design proposals. Stage 4 swiftly followed with a more detailed design, were we worked with the appointed contractor TQ Building Services.

Using TM66 certified luminaires such as AIR, Capital, Signum and IKON was the ideal option for installations at The Colmore Building, as they were able to keep to the strict BREEAM guidelines that the building as a whole were following.
