The Project

MIRUS Aircraft Seating required a lighting solution capable of supporting high-speed cameras capturing footage at 1,000 frames per second, a crucial aspect of the crash testing process. Tamlite’s EXPO Wide Beam luminaires were key to the solution, delivering over 80,000 lux while consuming just 48kW of power—an impressive demonstration of energy efficiency. The EXPO’s near flicker-free performance was instrumental in enhancing the clarity of camera footage and ensuring that test results were accurate, which was essential for such a high-stakes testing environment.

 

The Challenge and The Solution

The primary challenge was to design a lighting system capable of delivering illumination as close to flicker-free as possible under extreme conditions, without compromising on energy efficiency or usability. Tamlite’s EXPO luminaires were specifically selected for their exceptional light output and precision, making them ideal for the demanding high-speed camera performance required in crash testing. Integrated into a lightweight, curved aluminium framework, the lighting system allowed for easy movement in and out of the testing area via a crane gantry.
